CryoCell International - Preserving Cord Blood, Cord Tissue and Stem Cells
An umbilical cord goes beyond nourishing your baby.
Have you given any thought to preserving the stem cells in your baby’s umbilical cord blood and cord tissue? Stem cells are the master cells responsible for producing all of the mature cells in our blood and immune system.
Cord blood stem cells have been used in more than 25,000 transplants worldwide to treat nearly 80 diseases including certain cancers, leukemia and inherited immune system disorders. Storing your baby’s umbilical cord blood stem cells will provide your family with peace of mind should they ever be needed to treat your newborn or a family member. What was once considered medical waste is now improving and saving lives.
Collecting Newborn Stem Cells
The process of collecting your baby’s cord blood and cord tissue poses absolutely no harm to you or your baby. Once you enroll with a stem cell bank, you’ll receive a collection kit to take with you when you deliver. After the delivery, your obstetrician will draw blood from your umbilical cord then cut the cord. The specimens will be sent by courier to the stem cell lab where they will be processed and cryogenically frozen. Once properly frozen, the stem cells remain viable for decades.
Family Stem Cell Banking
Many patients opt to bank their newborn’s stem cells in a private family cord blood bank. There are many to choose from and processing and storage fees vary. We enjoy working with
Cryo-Cell International, the company that has been storing stem cells longer than anyone. Longevity is an important consideration when selecting a facility to store medical assets that are available only once in a lifetime. So is financial stability. Since Cryo-Cell is publicly-traded, its financial records are readily available. And Cryo-Cell is unique in offering women the opportunity to store the stem cells derived from their menstrual blood.
Medical research is developing new therapies to take advantage of stem cells’ ability to help the body repair itself. It’s a medical specialty called regenerative medicine and we are reading more and more about it in the general media as clinical trials report promising results. Cryo-Cell has established research partnerships with Stanford University and Saneron CCEL Therapeutics to discover new uses for cord blood, cord tissue and menstrual blood stem cells.
Scientists are hopeful that they will be able to develop approved stem cell therapies to help patients with Type I Diabetes, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, cancers and spinal cord injuries. We are always happy to discuss cord blood and cord tissue stem cell banking with you. Just ask us! Our cord blood advisors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (800) 786-7235.
